BMW CCA West Coast Summer Concours
August 14, 2009 - Carmel Valley / Monterey
BMW Concours, Corral & Picnic
Hosted by the Central California Chapter, BMW Car Club of America
The Central California Chapter, BMW CCA is again proud to host this year’s kick-off event to the BMW club’s Festorics weekend. This event has been held annually at different venues for 13 years.
New Venue: This year we are excited to be holding the BMW CCA West Coast Summer Concours at the Rancho Canada Golf Club located in Carmel Valley just East of California Highway 1. Offering a lush green backdrop and shielded from the ocean breezes, this is a perfect location for our BMW stage!
Previous events have featured many world class BMW’s from across the country and the world. Most notably, last year’s event included pre-war and vintage classics from Europe. We are expecting more of the same this year.
New attractions: We have invited BMW and automotive related VIPs, speakers and vendors to the event. Come spend the day and picnic with Satch Carlson, Editor of The Roundel Magazine; Larry Koch, BMW NA M Brand Manager; Frank Patek II, Executive Director of BMW Car Club of America and Steve Johnson, Pacific Region Vice President, BMW CCA. Interested in High Performance Driving? Mike Renner from the BMW Performance Center will be on hand to chat about their driving schools.
Picnic: We are encouraging participants to “make a day of it”, spread your blanket, set your chairs and bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the moment. There will be an optional lunch available on-site either at the Golf Club’s restaurant or a box lunch you can pre-purchase or buy the day of the event.
Main Attraction: The main event of the West Coast Summer Concours is the Concours itself which will feature many beautiful and interesting examples of BMWs and a formal awards ceremony. Bring your BMW out and participate in this unique opportunity - you don't have to have the cleanest example, just come out and have fun! Our site will include the main judging area where BMWs will be judged on originality, cleanliness, age, mileage, etc. There will also be several classes for specific BMW models such as coupes, 2002’s and early M3’s.
Corral Parking: The field will also include a corral featuring a variety of BMWs that are part of the show as well but not included in the judging.
We look forward to your participation in this year’s exclusive BMW Concours event!
Registration: Free for spectators (must be a BMW CCA member). $50 entry fee per BMW if you wish for your vehicle to be judged. Gourmet box lunches can be pre-ordered when you register.
If you have any questions, please direct your inquiries to Wayne Wundram at summerconcours@cccbmwcca.org.
A few words on Judging and Classes
There are two ways to enter you car in this event. Either as a member of a Special Interest Group or in our Open Class.
Special Interest Groups (2002’s, Coupes, M’s etc) will be judged in two classes, Concours Original or Concours Modified. Each will be judged on a 100 point system using SCCA type judging criteria. We may add additional Special Interest Groups as necessary.
Open Class entrants will have the option of selecting from one of three entry levels:
Class and Area(s) to be judged
Concours Class
- Everything above, including engine compartment and undercarriage.
Super Clean Class
- Interior, exterior, trunk, wheels and tires.
Clean Class
